In an incessant age of emptiness, we tempted the dusk that follows the infinite. The makers merged with their mirrors, while their hands reached out for meaning. Marrowless, hearts pumped gasoline. So, the winds ignored our senses and our blush was applied with ink. Ancient tales of pleasure echoed through the ears of those who longed. So, the melancholic pondered whether they could imitate a new dawn. Could a machine resurrect our shadows? Could it give us back our doubt? With a broad stroke of trials, rituals and injections we built an emotion machine for the soulless Were we creating a monster? Was it chaos that was hatching? Slimy suits schemed for success, conducting lab coats to collect lab rats. But the beasts never forgot their fervor, so, the creatures were slain in vain For, Moirai demanded a man to probe the unknown. Billboards begged for saviors, almost taunting, claiming man was not yet alive. So, a man signed away his life, chest high in the air. He is nameless, for he will soon be forgotten.

The Tower 01:22
On the eve of the world-returned, he found peace in the pulse of the machine and a zen buried beneath his torment. An antenna towered over the city, shaped to project the newborn affections and drain him of his vitality. Static surged through the machine and his flesh shriveled and ached. Still, he thought of warmth and forgiveness. Of rapture and reincarnation. And so, he released his ego, to be diffused amongst all.

The emotion machine cured nothing. It did not further human progress. Nor did it mend us from ever feeling numbness. But it gave us our independence from the collective nothing. And character to the endless echoes of imitation.

about

In an age of empty emotion, fueled only by the momentum of imitation and production, the human race shared one last lust. The masses dreamt of a machine capable of reviving their calloused souls. So, the numb scientists constructed an engine and a man devoid of fear was offered to be imbued with awe.

Latched and fused into the machine, he succumbed to its power. In an instant, the man’s head swelled with dreams and longings that had vanished long ago. Love struck him first, at the glance of the nearest nurse, but he realized she was blind to passion.

Thus, his affection mutated into a sour distrust that incited a vision. In it, he witnessed onlookers grin as his body shriveled and ached. His nightmare inspired hatred - and his hatred induced anguish. Life now swelled with meaning, but there was no escape from the machine.

He watched as the doctors funneled the essence of his heart through a large radio tower. At a flip of a switch, emotion was dispersed to the public. In this, our savior discovered peace buried beneath his torment. So, he released his ego, to be diffused among all.
